Sit At Your Own Risk!

Sit At Your Own Risk!

Several major studies have proven that sitting hour after hour is as big a risk to your health as smoking – especially for cancer and cardiovascular disease, our top killers.

And the most amazing part is that it doesn’t matter whether you exercise regularly or not! If you sit for long periods of time, the damage occurs, even if you’re an exercise maniac!

Just a few hours of sitting also turns off the “power” to the skeletal muscles, (we operate on something just like electricity), and creates inflammation – one of the biggest contributors most diseases, and the aging process

There is a solution, and it is astonishingly simple. Get up and walk around every half hour for just 1–5 minutes! According to the National Institute of Health, that improves your glucose metabolism, keeps your skeletal muscles switched on, and lowers the risk of diabetes, cancer, and cardio-vascular disease.

To start doing this myself, I set the timer on my phone. At first I could not believe how fast it went off, and how irritating it was to stop what I was doing.  However, it got easier as I reminded myself of the benefits – and the consequences if I didn’t do it! And it only takes 3 weeks to form a new habit – so give it a try!

Get Younger While You Breathe

If I had to choose just ONE way to create more energy and youthfulness, it would be to breathe more effectively on a consistent basis.

When you consciously breathe deeper, and take in more air over an extended period of time, it does a myriad vitally important things.

If you’re agitated and stressed out, breathing deeply calms you down – and yet, if you’re tired, it energizes you! If you’re scattered, it brings a sense of focus. If you’re afraid, it can fill you with a sense of confidence. If you’re in pain, it will reduce or even eradicate it.

There are two other breathing exercises in my book, and I personally use all 3 of them. This one is particularly good for pain, but it is also works for all the other things I just listed above – depending on what you need at the time you are doing it.

It will seem much too simple to do anything, but I have a severe double scoliosis, that is just short of being crippling, with intense back problems since I was 19 years old - and this technique, as well as some other methods I will share with you, is amazingly effective.

When doctors see my x-rays, they say things like “I’ve never seen anything like this outside of a textbook,” And yet for the most part, I am pain free, due to a few things that I do, and this breathing method is one of them. It has at times taken me from a pain level of 8 (10 meaning that it’s time to go the ER) to a ZERO – in seconds! Here is is:

Standing as tall as you can, inhale, and imagine that you’re getting taller. Continue to breathe deeply, and visualize every cell in your body filling with oxygen.

If the pain is in your back, imagine that the discs are separating and balancing. If it’s somewhere else, then think of that area filling with healing energy. If you’re tense, think about being calm. If you’re tired, picture the air filling your mind and your mind with energy.

Too simple to work, right? Try it! You may be amazed. It is an astonishingly powerful technique. And if it doesn’t work – keep coming back here. I have two other techniques that I will teach you, that will have you looking and feeling years younger than your birth certificate says you are.

          Anti-Aging Tip #1 - Reduce Your Stress!

All of us experience stress at levels that would have been incomprehensible in the not so distant past. It's become so prevalent, many doctors and health care professionals call it "Super-Stress" and it's an ongoing part of the fast-paced world we're living in.

A staggering 44% of Americans report they have more stress today than they did 5 years ago, with one in five reporting "extreme stress" and symptoms such as heart palpitations and depression (from www.stress.org).

The devastating effects of stress on our quality of life, health, and productivity, make STRESS REDUCTION an absolute must today.

Stress is the cause of 60% of the illnesses that we suffer today, increasing the risk of heart disease, stroke and heart attacks.

In the past, doctors paid little  to the effects of stress, but now it is commonly acknowledged as the primary contributor to the epidemics of accelerated aging, high blood pressure, obesity, gastro-intestinal disorders, diabetes, and insomnia – all of which are exploding in America today.

Stopping the ravages of stress is the #1 way to attain optimum health, stave off the aging process, and provide the energy to create the life you've always wanted.

If you do nothing about stress, it can change the functioning of your brain, creating panic attacks, phobias, chemical dependency, eating disorders, and addictions.

Luckily, there are solutions, and lots of them!

You can look and feel younger, by letting your fears, frustrations, and anxiety dissolve and fade away. There are safe, natural solutions to combat the effects of Super-Stress on our bodies.

Many of them are in my upcoming Your Amazing Itty Bitty Bitty Staying Young at Any Age Book, 15 Simple Steps to Turn Back the Clock.

In the book, in this blog, and on my Facebook page of the same name, you will learn countless ways to release tension, negative thoughts, make peace with your past, and become stress free.

The first tool I want to talk about is Visualization. This will provide a road map to feel and look younger and gain control of your life, your health, your energy - and turn back the clock!

When the Easy button first came out, I sometimes kept it in my purse, to make people laugh when I bought something. To this day, I keep it on my desk to remind myself that things are generally easier than we sometimes make them out to be.

As simple as it might sound, visualizing yourself as youthful, energetic, healthy, happy, optimistic, relaxed and confidant  is one of the most powerful ways to make that happen!

Can we really change our lives so easily, by using the power of our own minds? YES!

An article was published in Women’s Health 2012, where the author talks about the power of the mind, and how it can affect our physical bodies.

The main point of the article was that if you believe a medication or treatment will work, in most cases that is what actually happens. Your mind creates physical changes in your body—easily, naturally, and without side effects.

A stunning illustration of this was a study that was done on St. John’s Wort vs Zoloft, showing that both of them eased patients'  symptoms at about the same rate - but a placebo beat both of them by more than 8%!

Why? Because the brain's job is to solve problems. The expectation that something can work triggers the brain to solve the problem on its own. Your brain actually has a pharmacy, ready to solve many of the challenges you experience.

By consciously developing a youthful attitude, an open mind, and by choosing positive thoughts over negative thoughts, you will construct a new, younger self image.

Even more importantly, by allowing yourself to believe in the power of your mind, you will create huge changes in your attitude and in your life, And you may be amazed at how easy that can be, and how much younger you look and feel!

Staying Young At Any Age Book

15 Simple Steps to Turn Back the Clock

by Dianna Whitley

60 really is the new 40, 70 is the new 50, and 80 is the new 60! The steps in the book provide simple, fast techniques to look and feel young again. I know they work, because I'm 71, and I and I feel better and have more energy than I did when I was 40 – using these methods!

Follow these simple, but important 15 steps, and you will be astonished at how youthful you will become. I will cover them all here, more in depth, and updating them according to the latest information available.

Just a few examples:

·       Breathing methods that create instant energy
·       6 Stress Busters that really work
·       Ingredients in products that create younger skin
·       Exercising less and benefiting more
·       The 3 Major Enemies of Staying Young
·       Spices and oils that reverse the aging process

I started learning the principles covered here when I began to get sick a lot. I was 40 years old, living in Santa Fe, and getting flus every 6 weeks, almost like clockwork. I would barely recover from one, and a short time later, get another. They weren't minor either - I would end up in bed for a week or more, and I would cough so long and so vehemently, tears would roll down my face and I would gasp for breath, wondering if I should go to the hospital, but too stubborn (or stupid) to go.

I was a RE Broker at the time, and I had a partner, who finally fired me, because she ended up doing too much of the work. In desperation, I began to study nutrition and the principles of health, and within a few months, I was so healthy that I resisted almost every bug that I was exposed to.

And now, 30 years later, I still rarely get sick - and if I do, it doesn't keep me down, and I get over it quickly. I look years younger than most people my age, and have more energy than a lot
of people in their 30's.

At first all of this seemed like nothing short of a miracle, but as I continued reading and researching, I came to realize that it was simply the result of following good, sound principles of health. I feel grateful and excited to share those with you, and hope they have the same dramatic impact on you as they did on me.

The chapters in the book outline 15 simple steps. I recommend getting the book when it is available, to have the basics available in one place, but I also advise following this blog, as I will expand on each step, starting with the first step, going through the last, and then starting all over again, as new information, research, and studies are done all the time.

Here are the steps:
