Drink up!

We all know how important water is, but you might not know five other beverages that are health - according to science. And #6 might surprise you!
There are so many drinks to choose from that supposedly keep you healthy, like stevia-sweetened sodas, coconut water, kombucha, it can be confusing to figure out. So here are the top 6!
1. Water. This of course came out as the #1 choice, as it is the most natural beverage on the planet. However, if you don’t like the taste you might add a slice of lemon, lime, orange, fresh mint leaves, cucumbers, sliced strawberries, or even sliced ginger.
2. Green Tea: may be one of the best for cancer prevention, and it has also been found to improve artery function and lower the risk of heart disease.
3. Hibiscus Tea: There was an extensive study on the antioxidant content of more than 3,100 foods, beverages, herbs, and supplements, and Hibiscus tea was the highest in antioxidants.
If it is too bitter, you can sweeten it with watermelon, and the dietary flavonoids in watermelon are anti-inflammatory and can reduce muscle aches after exercising.
4. Water with Apple Cider is a folk remedy used for many ailments. Recent studies have confirmed that having vinegar with a meal reduces the spike in insulin, triglycerides and increases satiety – the feeling of being full after a meal.
In a recent study done in Japan, just 1 or 2 tablespoos of vinegar a day reduced body weight and body fat mass. Simply it to 8 ounces of water.
Important – Do NOT drink vinegar straight. The acetic acid in it can burn your esophagus.
5. White Tea is not processed as much as other teas, and if you add a little lemon, it TRIPLES the antioxidants - so it might be even better at fighting cancer than green tea.
6. Coffee has always been controversial when it comes to our health, but recent evidence suggests that all the negativity ascribed to it may be wrong.
Science has now shown coffee can enhance your mood, increase your reaction time, and improve cognitive function, and it turns out that it’s among the top sources of antioxidants.
It improves circulation by dilating your blood vessels and may lower your risk for dementia, stroke, type 2 diabetes, and even certain cancers.
However – this is based on it being black, with nothing added.

As far as things NOT to drink, energy drink are at the top of the list! They're full of caffeine and sugar, very unhealthy, and can even be dangerous. Drinking them long term can lead to, anxiety, an increased risk of diabetes, and ironically, even fatigue.
Also, caffeine has been known to cause irregular heartbeats and digestive problems, and most if not all energy drinks are loaded with caffeine.

Energy is so important, but if you want to stay healthy, drink up - but make sure it’s healthy!
